Fact Sheet for Undergraduate Students who are withdrawing from the University

  1. REDUCED LOAD:  You can maintain your degree candidacy as a part-time student (less than 12 credits) by notifying the Business Office of your intention to take less than 12 credits. You will be billed per credit, but remain enrolled in a degree program.  The Business Office number is 603-862-2230.

  2. REGISTERING AT CE:  If you register at the Continuing Education as a special student (not in a degree program) at any time during the next twelve months, you will be billed on the same basis as your previous degree status.  For registration information, check the DCE website at www.learn.unh.edu or call at 603-862-2015.

  3. TRANSFER CREDIT PRIOR APPROVAL:  The Prior Approval form is an agreement between the University and the students to establish in advance the number of credits to be accepted in transfer, the corresponding UNH equivalents for each course,  the general education and/or major requirements satisfied by the courses(s).  This agreement is contingent upon a student successfully completing the contracted courses(s).   If you are taking any part of your last 32 credits at another school, you must petition your college dean for a waiver of senior residency requirement.  You must be reinstated for graduation or readmitted in order for transfer credits to actually be applied to your UNH academic record.

  4. READMISSION:  If you should wish to return to UNH for coursework as a degree candidate, you must apply for readmission through the Admissions Office.  Deadlines for applications are June 1 for Fall Semester and November 1 for Spring semester.   Please call the Admissions Office at (603) 862-1360 if you have any questions.

  5. FILE INTENT-TO-GRADUATE:  If you do NOT intend to return to UNH for coursework but plan to finish your degree requirements elsewhere, you should contact the Degree Analyst at (603) 862-1594 about filing your intent-to-graduate card.  The deadline is three months prior to your intended graduation date.  UNH graduates students in September, December, and May of each year.  For current deadlines go the Registation Calendar.   You may also find information at the Commencement Office webpage.
