COMMENCEMENT

Commencement is a public ceremony to celebrate graduation, whereas graduation is the "earning" of an academic degree.

Commencement ceremonies are held once a year in May.  They are free and open to the public.  University officials and special guests preside over the event and honorary degrees are bestowed at this time.  People with special needs for the ceremony should contact the commencement office.

How do I get to participate?

Students must have filed an intent-to-graduate form (Sept. , Dec, or May) in the Graduation office to be able to participate in Commencement.  For more information on participating in Commencement go to the Commencement Office website.  If a student is late filing their intent and they wish to participate in the ceremony they must contact the Commencement Office directly at Schofield House, 8 Garrison Avenue, 8:00 - 4:30 or call (603) 862-1087 or e-mail the Commencement Office at commencement@unh.edu.

Publications (Commencement Book)

A commencement book is published and distributed at the Ceremony.  It contains five semesters of students who have filed intent-to graduate forms.

Honors

Summa Cum Laude  3.7 or higher GPA

Magna Cum Laude    3.5 - 3.699 GPA

NOTE:  "Walking" in the ceremony at Commencement does NOT mean that you have academically graduated!  Academic graduation depends upon successful completion of all University requirements.
