Freshmen Trips

Welcome to the 2008 Freshmen Trips- Trips now online!

Information:

Membership Fee: You must be a member of the NHOC to attend an NHOC trip. This requires paying the yearly $12 membership fee. It is also possible to select a four-year membership option for $40.

Trip Deposits: The trip deposits are $100 each. These deposits are non-refundable unless another participant takes your place on the trip. THESE DEPOSITIS ARE DUE BY JULY 1st.

Trip Costs: The trip costs include, but are not limited to, transportation, food, group and individual equipment, camping, a NHOC t-shirt, and instruction. The advertised trip costs do not include the membership fee.

Trip Sign-up: To sign-up, mail in the sign-up forms with your top three trip choices marked. Also, send a check in the amount of $112 or $140 (for trip deposit and membership fee) made payable to-NHOC. Trip participation is on a first come-first served basis.

Move-In Information: There is NO storage available at UNH until dorms have opened on August 30th. Contact the university with any extreme situations.

To register, please fill out the sign-up form and mail it in with your trip deposit and membership fee. The registration for the 2008 freshmen trips has begun!

Here are the Freshmen trips we are offering for the 2008 year! Small changes may occur as necessary.
All trips will meet at Boulder Field on Campus Friday the 29th and share pizza, their experiences, and meet more freshmen that went on other trips! Then Saturday is move in and college life begins!



Prezie Campaign of 2012!

Trip Type: Backpacking
Difficulty Level: Advanced
Trip Dates: Aug. 22nd – Aug. 29th

Trip Description: Are you getting caught up in the current Presidential race? May we suggest a Presidential campaign of a different kind? Come join Natalie & Eric (the current NHOC President and vice-President) on this peak-bagging journey to the club's own white house... The White Mountains! We will begin our journey hiking across the Presidentail Range & end within the Pemigewassett Wilderness. This is an advanced trip with heavy packs and long days but looks to reward the candidates with up to 12 summits of peaks taller than 4,000 feet. Be you Democrat, Republican, or just a simple outdoor enthusiast this trip promises to have good food, great company, and awesome views!!

Wandering Across the Whites

Trip Description: Come join Aaron, Aimée, and Mike for an amazing backpacking trip across New Hampshire's White Mountains! The Outing Club owns two cabins: one in the town of Jackson and one in Frankonia Notch. We'll walk out the door of Jackson Cabin and spend the next week hiking by day and camping in the backcountry by night, all the while surrounded by good food, great company, and gorgeous views! Exactly seven days after leaving Jackson, we'll walk through the door of Franky Cabin. NOTE: We will be carrying heavy packs and hiking 55-60 miles through 3 notches and over the summits of many mountains. Previous hiking experience is required.

Dan & Chris' Excellent Adventure

Trip Description: Join Dan, Chris, and Jill on an amazing journey into the Wilderness of Maine! We will spend the first three days canoeing the beautiful Penobscot river and finish off with three days of hiking in the secluded Baxter State Park. Trip highlights include a Mt. Katahdin summit attempt, native wild blueberry picking, very likely moose sighting, and beautiful canoeing! This is a trip sure to amaze you and something a bit more unique than the normal white mountains hike. Katahdin is a very hard hike, being in good shape is required. This trip is more expensive but well worth the money!

Franky Fun

Trip Description: Come join Tisha , Colum and Jess on a fantastic adventure as we summit several mountains including Mt. Carrigan, Mt. Garfield, Mt. Lafayette, Mt. Lincoln and more. Spend the first night at the NHOC’s Franky Cabin and then head out on our exciting expedition. For the next three nights enjoy camping out along the trail and at small tent sites in the wilderness of the White Mountains. We will enjoy plenty of premium hiking, some super sweet scenery and some fabulous food, and maybe even a gorgeous sunrise or two! And we forgot to mention the best part, if you have a pair of boots and a backpack, you’re invited, and we cant wait to meet you! We will be summiting several mountains, so please be in good shape!

Conquering New Hampshire's Tallest

Trip Description: Come conquer New Hampshire's tallest with Tom and Jared. Hike to the top of NH's tallest waterfall (Arethusa Falls) and cool off in its pools. Then hike to the summit of Mt. Washington, the tallest mountain in the Northeast. There are sure to be awesome views, good food, new friends, and lasting memories.

Pemi-to-Prezie Pandemonium

Trip Description: Join Jake and Amy on an epic 50+ mile trek through the heart of the White Mtns. We'll be bagging more than ten 4,000 foot peaks as we make our way from the Pemigewasset Wilderness to the Northern Presidential Range. This is an advanced trip with heavy packs and long days on trail. If you're up to the challenge, it promises to be a spectacular expedition with great company and breathtaking views!
