UNH will hold its Faculty Instructional Technology Summer Institute (FITSI) June 7-11. This year, 21 faculty members will participate in FITSI 2004, which provides hands-on activities and sessions designed to help faculty successfully integrate technology into their teaching and curriculum. All sessions emphasize pedagogy, and present ways in which technology can enhance and support student learning. The featured speakers at FITSI 2004 include Robert Reiser, Florida State University; Sheryl Burgstahler, University of Washington; and Phillip Long, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "Technology allows us to build a stronger academic community," says Mike Giordano, manager of the Instructional Development Center and FITSI coordinator. "While many universities spend a considerable amount of time teaching how to use software, we believe spending time developing the pedagogy behind the instructional technology provides a more strategic avenue for faculty to incorporate technology into the classroom experience."
