Faculty
and Staff Volunteers Sought by Student Judicial Programs
The Office of Judicial and Mediation Programs is looking for faculty
or staff with an interest in helping students, to volunteer to conduct
periodic investigations of alleged violations of the university’s
discriminatory harassment policies. The nature of this work includes
being available to quickly gather information from students and
others within the university community who have direct knowledge
of events that have been reported to the JMPO. Typical situations
can include sexual assaults, harassment because of a student’s
race, gender, sexual orientation, etc, or incidents of threatening
behaviors. While there is no set number of cases that occur each
academic year, an average may be up to five. The independent investigator
presents his/her findings to the director. The director then
decides whether the case will go forward through the conduct system.
Interested faculty or staff may call the Judicial and Mediation
Programs Office and speak to the director, Esther Tardy-Wolfe, at
2-3377. (11-28-05)
