Directions for a PLOT file(graphics)  to be transferred to a PC

1.  Type   plotter=’PS_AR’  for 500 or  plotter=’postscript’ on the 400 or datastation

2.  Type your regular  plot commands but at the end of page insert a file name for the plot,  for example:  pap pir pl pscale page(‘my _sample_ps’)

3.  If you look in “file” on the button line or in the file manager, you should now see your plot file listed as   mysample_ps .  Your file is now in postscript format.

4.  To view your graphic file:
           a. right click on the desktop
           b.  select applications
           c.  select image viewer
           d.  open file, choose or type in appropriate name, rotate with arrows

5.  To transfer to your PC, use your FTP(ssh) client (also available from CIS, http://www.sr.unh.edu/network/ssh.html) to get the plot file transferred to your PC by logging into the datastation and selecting the file or going to /lyle4  or /lyle5.    It is a post-script file which can be opened by a number of programs such as Adobe Imagemaker or Photoshop and e-mailed, or converted to another format.

6.  To change to a   .pdf  file, open your Adobe Distiller and convert and save it as    .pdf    or   as .tiff , etc. to insert in a document or e-mail.

DON’T FORGET  TO  CHANGE  BACK  YOUR PLOTTER SELECTION TO PLOT  TO  THE  ATTACHED PLOTTER   …..plotter=’plt1’  or it will not print
