Woodside Apartments
Construction of the Woodside Apartment Complex began in the summer of 1982 with buildings P,Q, and R becoming occupied in the spring of 1983. The complex was completed and became fully occupied for the Fall Semester of the 1983-1984 academic year.
The Woodside Apartment Complex is located at 60 Strafford Avenue and is situated near our world-class recreation and sports facility, the Whittemore Center/Campus Recreation Center. Woodside is connected to the campus by both an easy walk and a free campus shuttle bus. The complex is nestled in a beautiful wooded area and consists of 99, four or five person apartments housing 416 students. Each unit comes fully furnished with a complete kitchen and dining room, fully furnished living room and beds and bureaus for 4 or 5 residents. All units are equipped with fast Ethernet connections to access the WWW and network connections to the university for on-line access to the library from one's own apartment. Local phone service and 2 private phone lines (one for each bedroom), basic cable television, on-site laundry facility which accepts Cat's Cache only, and of course all heat and utilities are included in the one-time bill for the semester. On-site parking for 200 cars is available with the purchase of a parking permit from Parking Services. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings of the Woodside complex.
IIn our beautiful Community Center building, one will find package and mail delivery and a small community center lounge which can be used for studying, functions, and student programming activities. The lounge is equipped with a fireplace and wireless internet access. Laundry facilities are also located in the Community Center building.
The Department of Housing has aggressively worked to provide a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment by constantly doing repairs and renovations throughout the years. Some of these were the purchase of new living room furniture in 1994, new bureaus in 1995, new desks in 1995, new lamps in 1996, and new bedroom lighting was installed in the summer of 1997, and a complete renovation of all bathrooms during the summer of 2005. The department also replaces approximately 8-10 carpets each summer. All units are bathed with natural light throughout the daytime and each window has metal mini-blinds for privacy in the evening.
