Description.
"Infoseek is installed as the
campus-wide search engine. This class shows Web authors how to
use META, TITLE, and other tags improve the position of their
pages in the search index. It shows how to build a customized
search page based on Infoseek and other cool tips.
Assumes some experience with HTML."
The "text" for this seminar is the
FAQ for Search Engine Use at UNH. This
seminar is a discussion of the parts of
that FAQ that are important for Web authors to
know about and the links below are
primarily to files
in that FAQ.
- Review of search engine basic behavior.
- Making effective use of HTML tags.
- Customize the design and layout of search forms.
- We have a
series of examples of customized forms that
demonstrate some of the possibilities.
- HTML Frames.
- Use of
Frames -- advised or not?
- Summary of Do's and Don'ts.

Recommend practices as a series of
Do's (identity, keywords, title, publicity, turning)
and Don'ts (Frames, file names, bridge pages, security).
- Adding and deleting your pages.
